TrabJus 2.0 – Sustainability and Social Justice

Under the established TrabJus brand, the "Sustainability and Social Justice" project emerges as a space for the convergence of ideas and interests, promoted by the Francisco Suárez Center for Advanced Studies in Law (CEAD). This initiative is designed to address, in an interdisciplinary manner, issues directly related to labor law, procedural labor law, occupational health and safety, and social security law, while also welcoming researchers from related fields.

General Objective

TrabJus 2.0 aims to create a solid and structured research group capable of identifying contemporary challenges and proposing scientifically grounded solutions to issues involving sustainability and social justice. With a focus on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aspires to balance academic rigor with effective community engagement by exploring socially and legally relevant themes.

Main Thematic Axes

  1. Sustainability in Labor Relations

    • Investigate new configurations of labor relations, proposing models that promote workplace dignity and sustainable solutions to economic and social challenges.
  2. Social Justice and Inclusion

    • Explore the role of law in reducing inequalities and strengthening social protection while considering the complexities of contemporary societies.
  3. Occupational Health and Safety

    • Focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria by researching best practices and challenges to ensure safe and healthy workplaces.
  4. Academic and International Partnerships

    • Strengthen the exchange of ideas and experiences through collaborations with national and international universities and research centers.

Structure and Target Audience

The TrabJus 2.0 project will be developed during the 2024/2025 academic year, involving professors and students from the Master's Programs in Labor Law and Social Security (Lusophone University of Lisbon) and Labor and Public Administration Law (Lusophone University of Cape Verde).

Although focused on legal areas, the project is broad enough to integrate researchers from various disciplines, ensuring an interdisciplinary approach that fosters knowledge exchange and the development of innovative solutions.

Planned Initiatives

  • Academic Seminars: Engage master's and doctoral students in presenting and publishing relevant research.
  • Collaborative Work: Produce a collective publication reflecting progress in labor, sustainability, and social justice fields.
  • International Conferences: Organize events in partnership with other institutions, including the release of joint publications.
  • Funded Projects: Submit applications for external funding with a focus on sustainability and workplace safety.

Scientific Coordination

  • Lead Researcher: Carolina de Freitas e Silva
  • Co-Lead Researcher and Scientific Coordinator: António Monteiro Fernandes

TrabJus 2.0 – Sustainability and Social Justice reaffirms CEAD's commitment to producing research of excellence and relevance, contributing to scientific advancement, professional development, and the creation of solutions applicable to contemporary society.
