"Although the ECHR does not enshrine a Right to Health, the import of the ECtHR has been progressively marked for cases that directly affect this topic. Considering the role played by Judge Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque in this context, the coordinators of the work sought to select the most significant cases for analysis and discussion, based on a joint initiative involving CEAD researcher Francisco Suárez and the Biomedical Law Center, providing, Likewise, due and fair tribute to Judge Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque."
The Coordinators
This is a remarkable work that reveals to the Portuguese public the work of the Strasbourg judges in favor of defending a European parameter for the protection and promotion of health. Over the last decade, Strasbourg judges have carried out remarkable research into the practice of medicine, biomedical law, the law of medical professionals and the human rights of patients. The Biomedical Law Center of the University of Coimbra and the Center for Advanced Studies in Law Francisco Suárez of the Lusófona University and, most especially, the Coordinators and Authors of this work, therefore, provided an excellent service to the Portuguese legal community, which deserves to be publicized , thought out and deepened inside and outside the University.
