Alexandra Vilela is a Doctor of Law and an Associate Professor at the Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário do Porto. She served as the director of the Faculty of Law November 2011 to December 2014. She teaches in the field of Criminal Law. She is also the Director of the Master's program in Legal-Criminal Sciences at the faculty and a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário de Lisboa.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Coimbra and her dissertation titled "O Direito de Mera Ordenação Social: entre a ideia de 'recorrência' e a de 'erosão' do Direito Penal Clássico" has been published by Coimbra Editora and Edições Lusófona. She has published several articles and books, presented at conferences in Portugal and abroad, and participated in postgraduate courses related to her teaching and research areas. She is a member of the editorial board of the "Anatomia do Crime" journal and the editorial board of the "Revista de Direito da Universidade Lusófona do Porto," of which she was the director. She also has been working as a lawyer since 1994.
