Miguel Bustos Rubio
Professor of Criminal Law at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR). Vice Dean of Research at the Faculty of Law of the same university.
He holds a European Doctorate in Law, summa cum laude by unanimous decision, from the Complutense University of Madrid (where he received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award) (2015). He complemented his doctoral studies at the Dipartimento di Diritto Penale of the Facoltà di Giurisprudenza at the Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy, 2014), under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alessandro Bernardi, Full Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Ferrara.
Previously, he has taught at the Complutense University of Madrid, the Real Centro Universitario El Escorial, the Higher Institute of Law and Economics (ISDE), the Rey Juan Carlos University, the University of Salamanca, and the Camilo José Cela University. He has served as the academic director of the Master's Degree in Economic Criminal Law at UNIR.
He has worked as a researcher at the State Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía General del Estado), in the Road Safety delegation.
He is a tutoring professor for the doctoral program at the International University of La Rioja, where his teaching spans the Bachelor's Degree in Law, the Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, the Master's Degree in Economic Criminal Law, and the Master's Degree in Legal Practice.
He has supervised three doctoral theses and is currently supervising two others.
Specializing in Economic Criminal Law, his notable books include: "El delito de favorecimiento ilícito de acreedores" (Tirant lo Blanch, 2024), "Aporofobia y delito: la discriminación socioeconómica como agravante" (Bosch, 2020); "Delitos acumulativos" (Tirant lo Blanch, 2017), "La regularización en el delito de defraudación a la Seguridad Social" (Tirant lo Blanch, 2016), and "La tipicidad objetiva en el delito de omisión del deber de socorro personal" (UCM, 2013).
He is the author of several peer-reviewed articles in his specialty, published in multiple high-impact journals in Spain and abroad.
His research stay will take place from March 2, 2026, to June 2, 2026, under the supervision of Professor Inês Fernandes Godinho.
