The latest university textbook published by Edições Lusófonas is now available: Manual of Roman, Peninsular and Portuguese Legal History, by Professor Rui Albuquerque.
The book presented here is the result of several years of teaching these subjects at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Universidade Lusófona – University Centre of Porto, to first-year undergraduate Law students.
It was preceded by an earlier publication in 2022, which covered only the syllabus of the second-semester course unit, focusing primarily on the historical development of Peninsular and Portuguese Law. The following year, in 2023, the first edition of the present book was published, incorporating the full content of both course units taught in the first and second semesters, including Roman Law, which had not been covered in the initial publication.
The present volume, completed in September 2026, is essentially a revised and expanded second edition of that work.
