Book - History of Portuguese Law

The book History of Portuguese Law, authored by Professor Dr. Rui Albuquerque, has been published.

The text that makes up this brief work is the result of several years of teaching the curricular unit History of Portuguese Law at the Lusófona University of Porto, particularly the course which, under the curricular reforms promoted by the Faculty of Law and Political Science after the Bologna Process, corresponds to the subject taught in the second semester, where the historical evolution of Portuguese Law is studied.

This work began as a set of developed summaries intended to assist students during the most difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when classes were held almost entirely via Zoom and when, in addition to the human element that personal interaction always brings, basic study resources were lacking due to the unforeseen closure of libraries and even many bookshops.

Today, and for the time being, the book is little more than those expanded summaries, with no ambition other than to serve as a support tool, by and for students, reflecting the current state of the material taught in the classroom. It does not, moreover, exhaust the subject matter, and it is anticipated that future editions may further develop and deepen these topics, as well as introduce others that were not addressed here.
