CEAD is promoting the Conference “40 Years of VAT in Portugal”, a moment of reflection and debate dedicated to one of the most significant taxes in the Portuguese tax system. This event aims to mark four decades of the Value Added Tax, highlighting its central role in the taxation of consumption and in the structure of national public finances.
Throughout the session, the impact of VAT from its introduction to the present day will be analysed, addressing its evolution, challenges, and transformations over time. This open lecture is aimed at students, professionals in the fields of taxation and accounting, and all those interested in gaining a better understanding of the importance and trajectory of this tax within the Portuguese legal and economic context.
