European Consortium "Direito à Cidade" - Erasmus +

The main objective of this mobility consortium is to expand the reflection on issues related to the right to the city, so that it may have a positive impact on the quality of life in the human habitat and the development of tools guiding the creation of the city as a common good.

This work is derived from the experience of the place, the complexity and successive overlapping visions that applied study of cities requires. Therefore, a substantial part of the project’s activities involve mobility.

The purpose of the "Direito à Cidade" (D@C) consortium is to deepen knowledge and skills – theoretical, methodological, as well as ethical and professional – around the theme of sustainable cities for the 21st century. It seeks to create opportunities to explore different contexts in order to expand one’s own perspective and also take this knowledge further to new contexts. This is supported by the diversity of backgrounds and nationalities of participants. It is a crucial element of the project that helps bridge the local and temporal constraints of individual points of view.  In a global world, our students are faced with countless opportunities to stay, work and take care of the cities in which they (con)live. It is important to work on making the cities inclusive so that they give all students equal opportunities.

From the global perspective pursued the consortium, the following objectives are pursued:

i) Consolidating knowledge;

ii) Learning divergent ways of thinking and doing;

iii) Developing technical skills;

iv) Acquiring professional experiences;

v) Discovering and recognising opportunities in other markets;

vi) Developing linguistic and intercultural skills, essential to any labour market, as well as relational, communicational, autonomy and collaborative decision-making skills, integrated into the soft skills essential for any company;

vii) Developing professional, political and social awareness.

This project involves Maria do Rosário Anjos, Professor and Researcher at CEAD Francisco Suárez and Professor Lígia Nunes (Lusophone University).
