On March 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the presentation session for Issue No. 8 of 1820 – Journal of Political Science took place at the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto. The initiative brought together academics, students, and members of the public interested in topics related to international politics and contemporary political thought.
The session began with opening remarks by Nuno Botelho, representing the Associação Comercial do Porto, and António Tavares, from Universidade Lusófona and CEAD Francisco Suárez, who emphasized the importance of the journal as a space for scholarly reflection on politics and the challenges of the contemporary world.
The central moment of the event was the lecture entitled “The New World Order,” delivered by António Martins da Cruz, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and diplomat. In his address, he presented an analysis of the transformations currently taking place in the international system, discussing new geopolitical dynamics, emerging balances of power, and the challenges facing Europe and the wider world.
The session concluded with closing remarks by Rui Albuquerque, from Universidade Lusófona and CEAD Francisco Suárez, who highlighted the contribution of the journal and of initiatives of this kind to deepening both academic and public debate on contemporary political issues.
