The 2nd Annual Conference on the Law of the Sea took place at the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego in Cascais. The event focused particularly on drug trafficking, human trafficking, and the protection of migrants.
The conference was divided into five discussion panels and was held in partnership with CEAD Francisco Suárez, among other institutions.
Professor Dr. Vasco Becker-Weinberg, President of the IDPM, event organizer, and coordinator of the Research Line Law Beyond Borders at CEAD Francisco Suárez, stated:
“This conference aims to bring together in Cascais a group of international experts dedicated to the study of the Law of the Sea and, in particular, to a topic that is today central to relations between States and Peoples — maritime security.”
He also noted that the high number of participants demonstrates “the importance of this topic in today’s world.”
