Professor Rui Cascão, PhD, Researcher at CEAD Francisco Suárez, Universidade Lusófona, participated in the 10th EAHL Conference, organized by the European Association of Health Law (EAHL) in collaboration with Uppsala University, which took place in Uppsala, Sweden, from September 9 to 11, 2026, under the theme "Frontiers of European Health Law."
Within the framework of the conference, the researcher presented the paper "Who Pays When the Algorithm Fails? Revisiting No Fault Compensation for Medical Adverse Events," dedicated to the challenges posed by artificial intelligence to European medical civil liability systems.
The presentation, well received by the attending scientific community, proposes revisiting Nordic no-fault compensation schemes as a potentially suitable response to efficiently, fairly, and equitably compensate for damages associated with AI-mediated medical acts.
The paper is published in the conference's Book of Abstracts.
