Professor Paulo Sargento of Faculty of Law at Universidade Lusófona and Associate Researcher at CEAD – Centro de Estudos Avançados Francisco Suárez, participated as a guest at the 1st International Congress on Community Intervention and Social Transformation, an event co-organized by Universidade Portucalense and the Municipality of Amarante.
The academic joined a panel under the theme "Prevention and Intervention in the Context of Family Violence: What is the Impact of Trauma?", where he presented a talk focused on child abuse, reflecting on the effects of trauma on children's development and well-being.
The congress highlighted the importance of coordination between academia, local authorities, and the judicial system in building effective and integrated community intervention responses.
