CEAD is pleased to announce the upcoming workshop "Law in a More-Than-Human World: A Workshop on the Rights of Nature", taking place on June 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Universidade Lusófona – Room N.1.10, with online streaming available.
This international gathering brings together researchers and activists dedicated to thinking about and discussing the rights of nature, at a time when ecological challenges demand new legal, philosophical, and political approaches. The event will feature the participation of legal scholar Ramiro Ávila Santamaría, from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador), an international reference in the field of Rights of Nature, as well as the innovative artistic and environmental initiative Embassy of the North Sea, which promotes active listening to the natural world as a political subject.
The scientific coordination of the workshop is led by Lurdes Vargas, Maria Inês Gameiro, Patrícia André, and Ana Escher, CEAD researchers working in the areas of political ecology, emerging rights, and environmental justice.
The event is free and open to the public, both in-person and online.
