Open Class - Between Legal Norm and Persuasion

21st of may 2026

CEAD Francisco Suárez is pleased to announce the Open Class “Between Legal Norm and Persuasion”, to be held on May 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., in Room C -1.2.

This event proposes an in-depth reflection on the relationship between law as a normative system and the mechanisms of persuasion that influence its interpretation, application, and effectiveness. In a context where legal discourse increasingly engages with other fields of knowledge, this seminar invites a critical analysis of the boundaries between the objectivity of legal norms and the subjectivity of argumentation.

The seminar will feature two distinguished researchers: Pedro Carvalho Ferreira, PhD at the Instituto de Filosofia - Universidade do Porto, and Pedro Tiago Ferreira, PhD at the Universidade de Lisboa. Both will offer valuable contributions to the discussion on legal argumentation, rhetoric, and philosophy of law.

Aimed at students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of law and social sciences, this seminar provides an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge and foster interdisciplinary dialogue.

Participation is open to all interested attendees.
