CEAD invites the entire academic community and all interested members of the public to attend the Open Lecture “The African Union Convention on the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls”, which will take place on December 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., in Room C.1.1.
The session will feature Professor Rui Garrido, Assistant Professor at Universidade Portucalense, who will address the main legal, social, and political aspects of the African Union Convention, highlighting the challenges and progress made in combating gender-based violence in the African context.
This Open Lecture aims to foster critical reflection and dialogue on the protection of the rights of women and girls in Africa, contributing to the strengthening of a culture of equality and social justice.
Admission is free, subject to room capacity.
