Open Lecture - Public-Private Partnerships in Healthcare: Is This Truly the End of an Era?

21st of may 2026

We invite the entire academic community and the general public to attend the Open Lecture “Public-Private Partnerships in Healthcare: Is This Truly the End of an Era?”, which will take place on May 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room N.1.6.

In a context of growing debate surrounding the management and financing models of the healthcare system, this session aims to promote a timely and critical reflection on the role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the Portuguese health sector. Are we witnessing the closure of a cycle, or rather a transformation of the model? What challenges and opportunities lie ahead for the future?

The lecture will feature guest speaker Joana Capaz Coelho, a PhD Candidate in Law at NOVA University Lisbon and Researcher, who will provide both a legal and practical perspective on the topic, contributing to an informed and plural discussion.

This initiative seeks to foster critical thinking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and active participation among students and all those interested in a field of significant social and political relevance.

Participation is free of charge and represents an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge and engage in discussion on a highly relevant contemporary issue.
