CEAD Francisco Suárez will host, on 4 February 2026, an Open Lecture dedicated to the theme “How to Defend Our Fundamental Rights?”, a topic that is central to understanding the rule of law and democratic citizenship.
The session will feature Professor Jorge Bacelar Gouveia, Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law of NOVA University Lisbon, one of the most widely recognised voices in the field of Constitutional Law and Fundamental Rights.
In a context marked by new legal, social, and political challenges, this Open Lecture aims to provide a space for critical reflection and clarification on the mechanisms for the protection of fundamental rights, their constitutional framework, and the role of citizens and institutions in their defence.
Participation is open to the entire academic community and the general public.
