Open Lecture - Bank Liability vs. Negligent Customer: Could It Be Any of Us?
17th of march 2026

CEAD Francisco Suárez will host, on March 17, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., the Open Lecture “Bank Liability vs. Negligent Customer: Could It Be Any of Us?”.
The session will take place in Room 2.4 of the Faculty of Law and Political Science and will feature Dr. Jéssica Lopes Barbosa, who will address the legal challenges associated with digital banking operations and electronic payment methods.
The initiative aims to encourage reflection on a topic that is increasingly present in everyday life: the widespread use of home banking and electronic payment solutions, as well as the legal consequences that may arise in situations of fraud, error, or negligence.
Most people prefer to use home banking and other forms of electronic payment. What is often overlooked is that the evolution and simplification of payment methods also bring new legal challenges. How is the bank’s liability determined?
Participation is open to students, faculty members, and the general public.
