Conference - The Influence of Mimetic Rivalry on Contemporary Tax Law: A Critical Approach Inspired by René Girard
20th of november 2025

We are pleased to announce the upcoming conference “The Influence of Mimetic Rivalry on Contemporary Tax Law: A Critical Approach Inspired by René Girard,” which will take place on November 20, 2025, starting at 9:30 AM, in the José Araújo Auditorium.
This initiative proposes an innovative and interdisciplinary reflection on the foundations of contemporary Tax Law, based on the theory of mimetic rivalry developed by the French thinker René Girard. In a context of increasing complexity in social and economic relations, this critical approach enables a deeper questioning of the dynamics of desire, conflict, and sacrifice that permeate modern tax systems.
The conference will feature the participation of distinguished national and international academics, whose contributions promise to enrich the legal, philosophical, and economic debate surrounding taxation.
