Closing Session of the Free Course in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law

On June 19, CEAD Francisco Suárez will host the Closing Session of the Free Course in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law at the Grand Hall of the Porto Courthouse, bringing together distinguished judges, academics, and legal professionals.
The session will begin at 5:30 p.m. with opening remarks by Judge José Igreja Matos, President of the Porto Court of Appeal, and Professor José de Faria Costa, President of CEAD Francisco Suárez and Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Universidade Lusófona.
At 5:40 p.m., João Conde Correia, Deputy Attorney General, will deliver the lecture “Rules Excluding Evidence”, offering an in-depth analysis of one of the most significant issues in contemporary criminal procedure.
The programme continues at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation of the literary work The Sponge of Days, authored by Albertina Pedroso, President of the Évora Court of Appeal. This moment will highlight the intersection between legal experience and literary creation.
At 6:45 p.m., the audience will enjoy a staged reading of excerpts from the book, performed by judges of the Porto Court of Appeal: Alexandra Pelayo, Dolores Sousa, and Paulo Costa. This artistic performance will offer a unique interpretation of the work presented.
The official closing of the course is scheduled for 7:20 p.m., with concluding remarks by Judge João Pedro Cardoso, Judge José Quaresma, and Professor Inês Fernandes Godinho.
