José Grazina Machado
José Grazina Machado is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of Lusófona University, where he has been teaching since 2009. His research focuses on the areas of Personal Data Protection Law, Fundamental Rights, Administrative Law, and Property Law.
He holds a Law degree from the Faculty of Law of Lusófona University (2009), a Master’s degree in Legal-Political Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, with a dissertation entitled “The change of circumstances as grounds for the termination of public contracts” (2013), and a PhD in Law from the Faculty of Law of Lusófona University, with a thesis entitled “Consent in Personal Data Protection Law: challenges in the context of public sector activity” (2024).
He is also a Visiting Researcher at CEAD – Francisco Suarez and the author of several legal articles in his fields of research.
Alongside his academic and research activities, José Grazina Machado has practiced and continues to practice as a lawyer, and also served a term as a Member of the National Data Protection Commission, elected by the Portuguese Parliament, between 2017 and 2023.
He is currently Head of Compliance at a credit institution.
