We publish the Open Class Program "Sexual Crimes: Legal and Psychological Aspects" to be held on February 28th, at 2:30 pm, in the Court Room of Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário de Lisboa.
The event will feature a mock trial entitled "Not Today" - myths and realities of rape. A story in which Joana and Miguel are two students, who met, liked each other and started going out together. One night, Miguel takes Joana to his house and forces her to have sex. Following the criminal complaint filed by Joana against Miguel, he is accused of having committed a crime of rape.
"Not today!" It is a simulation of this trial, which seeks to deconstruct the myths and realities associated with the crime of rape. Is it the victim who has to prevent the crime from being committed, resist or scream? And does the perpetrator have to exercise physical violence before it can be considered a crime? What is the typical profile of a rapist? How does a victim of this crime usually react and behave?
These are some of the questions that “Not Today!” will try to respond.
